The Mockingbird is the State Bird of Florida. They are a common sight.

They are quite vocal and imitate the sounds of many other birds. Also, if you hear a bird singing at night, it is probably a lonely male mocking bird trying to find a female to keep him company

Pictured to the right is a Loggerhead Shrike. They look very similar to the Mockingbird but have a darker band around their eyes
